Big Buck Tuscola County |
Lead | ||
|
Here is a pic of my buddy on the land where we hunt in Cass City. Unfortunately this buck wasn't killed hunting in the field. I wasn't there last
weekend. There were some guys up pheasant hunting and they spotted this buck limping real bad, they saw him bed down in some standing corn. They called my
buddy in the picture and he walked up and finished him off. We had him scoed at a taxidermist yesterday to enter a contest to win a free shoulder mount. He
scored 161 1/8. He is in the lead for the mount, contest ends Monday. The blood on the head is where he was finished off.

Beautiful buck but it does not look to be 160 class. Bigger than anything I have ever taken but does not even look to be 150.

Thats what I thought too. The picture does it no justice. They are farmers not photographers. When they sent my brother and I the picture we thought 140's.
Then my brother scored it when we got there Wednesday, he got 162 1/2. The taxidermist got 161 1/8. Trust me its a 160 class.

Sorry I should have said why it scored so good. The main beams were 24'' and 22 1/2'' and the inside spread was 22 1/2''. The tine
length could have been better, they have an issue with crab claws out there. You can see them at the end of the main beam.

Lumpy after you said crabclaws I just noticed it was a 10 pointer. Also on the left beam is that another point kicking out toward the cornstalks which would be his G2. Would be an 11-point if that is the case. Great buck.....The Body does not match the antlers does it? Antlers are BIG and body is small. Never the less it is a DANDY! |

Good eye. He was very injured and malnourished. His skin was saggy and hair was falling off. When he was put down his antlers fell off, just like they were
shed. I guess that happens early when they are injured. Also, I don't know if this is true, but the taxidermist said if he would have lived he would not
have grown a rack next year, from being injured and all. He was right around the corner from you Troy.

Update. He won big buck and is getting a free shoulder mount. He told the taxidermist he couldn't take it since the guy in second place got his while
hunting. The taxidermist told him that isn't the contest, it is biggest buck, no matter how you got it. He pretty much made him take it.
